Hello and thanks a lot for this dock wich does not eat so much RAM
[Q]

Before to fill in an issue I'd rather prefer to be sure : has anyone the same trouble?
[Q]

Openbox beeing an ICCCM and EWMH compliant window manager, awn should works with it. And it does :)
Nevertheless, below is the issue I was evocating :
[Q]

* Launch openbox ( + xcomprmgr / or the cairo composite manager )
* Launch awn
* Launch an app on workspace 2, go to workspace 1 and use awn to display the launched app. Instead of jumping to workspace 2 -where the app is - it will "bring" this app to the current workspace.
* I tested unactivating the "show window from all viewports" option ; actually it does not amend the awn behaviour
* Others features I tested INCLUDING "Shinny switcher" applet behaves correctly.
[Q]

If anyone's curious :
Debian sid (and some experimental)
Avant Window Navigator 0.2.6
Openbox 3.4.7
[Q]

Regards!

I don't believe that the behaviour you are describing is a bug per se. I have actually seen those who are much more familiar with the relevant specs than I advocate the position that specs tend to leave the "correct" behaviour unfortunately ambiguous.
[Q]

Currently essentially awn activates the window in question and leaves the question of what this means to the WM... IMO (and of the awn devs I have discussed it with) this is the way it should be...
[Q]

The desired behaviour tends to vary widely from user to user... Some WM default to calling the window to the active workspace, others warp you to the workspace the window is located in... XFWM4 allows you to choose the behaviour you like... IMO either make sense though I prefer the second behaviour.
[Q]

That being said... it seems that a patch to Metacity has gained foothold with the distros where activating a window means that it seeks attention. which is noe followingt a sane alternative from an awn perspective.
[Q]

So... expect the following in 0.4: Awn will default to assume you are using a WM that chooses one of the sane alternatives :-) and will leave this decision where it belongs (in the WM). However, there will also be a config in awn where the WM relied on to handle this and it will be possible for the user to choose either summon to active workspace or warp to the window's workspace and have awn take care of it for them.

Thanks for your clear reply. I agree it can not be considered as a bug.
[Q]

Not sure, but I think xfce devs did a trick to fit with awn.
Actually I could try to fill in an openbox request : it seems this - very nice - WM does not allow to configure "what to do when a window is activated". (But I will look for with more care)
[Q]

I hope to add an additionnal comment soon!

Xfce does not do anything special with regards to window activation and Awn.

But that's always the scariest part, isn't it? What we don't know is Air Max 90 often what makes us shudder. And that's why, even as we mourn the passing of one of the game's greats, there can not be enough concern about what is happening to retired pro football players. They are killing themselves — Seau's death, if it's confirmed as a suicide in the coming days, would the third reported in the last 15 months alone — and it shouldn't be just the grieving families and friends asking why. "I hate to say it, but when you get guys like this taking themselves out, it makes you wonder," former Lions cornerback Lem Barney said Wednesday, not long after the Hall of Famer heard the news about Seau's death. "It really makes you wonder." This is why the lawsuits are necessary, some will argue. This is why the suspensions in the sport they loved make sense, others will say. And at the Nike Air Max LTD very least, it's why the demands for more funding and more research and especially more awareness about traumatic brain injuries in the game must continue, louder than ever, regardless of what we eventually learn about Seau's Nike Air Max 95 death.
