A few things to note:

1) Some of use need to do a refresh (right click the icon) the first time the dialog is opened.
2) Along with (1) sometimes the dialog will be blank when opened. Often dragging (press you left button down and hold) the canvas will will make the content appear.
3) Scrollwheel does not work... see (2).

Current status:

My tweet applet branch is yet again synced with upstream. I also have a small sub-branch, or whatever it is git calls internal-type branches, with gnome-keyring support. It requires gnome-keyring >= 2.21.4 or so, and is enabled with the configure flag --with-gnome-keyring . To retrieve those changes (assuming that you already have a clone of "trunk"):

git checkout --track -b gnome-keyring origin/gnome-keyring

and then re-configure/re-build/re-install the tree (with the specified configure flag, of course).

Gnome Keyring support actually works now (at least, when I tried it). I think my next task is implementing spellcheck support, which appears to be trivial, but requires libsexy. I think I'll add another configure flag for it (--enable-spellcheck).

Apparently I needed to fix nm-glib support. That should be fixed (at least, it compiles - I don't run networkmanager so I can't test it).

I also added a flag to explicitly disable nm-glib support on the off chance that you have networkmanager installed but don't want support for it. It still defaults to auto-detection. (--with-networkmanager=[auto|yes|no])

I think my next goal is to add libdesktop-agnostic config support, but that's blocking on the actual creation of libdesktop-agnostic.

It's a rather complex process. Let me see if I can find some time this week to package it for Hardy (it appears that Hardy is the only Ubuntu version that will support it without signficant effort on my part).
